Range Rover Sport ‘Should Be World Car Of Year’

The Range Rover Sport has been hailed as one of the best, if not the, best car of 2022.

Rob Gill, who is on the judging panel of the World Car of the Year awards told The Sun that the British vehicle is likely to win the prestigious accolade.

It is competing against the Range Rover, Mercedes EQS, BMW 7 Series, Lucid Air, Lexus RX, Genesis G90, and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe in the Best Luxury Car category.

Although it is a tough group, but Gill said: “I reckon one of our two Lions will prevail. Simply because they set the standard for do-it-all 4x4s. Land Rover’s Solihull factory is running at full tilt to keep up with orders.”

He noted some of the cars’ great features include air suspension, rear-wheel steering, 48-volt roll control, electronic active differential, and 530hp.

As it is an off-road vehicle, the Range Rover Sport combines all the performance of a sports car with the capabilities of 4x4s.

The 4.4-litre petrol V8 engine, a top speed of 155mph, and an acceleration from zero to 62mph in 4.5 seconds makes it “truly exceptional”.

Gill also praised the vehicle for its comfort and capability, saying “nothing can match it”.

He is not the only one who has exulted the model recently, as a review in Auto Car in September gave it 4.5 stars out of five for getting the “road car/4×4 combination just right”.
